You Just Gotta Believe!!

Acts 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth [his] hands to vex certain of the church.
Act 12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
Act 12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
Act 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
Act 12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
Act 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands.
Act 12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

Act 12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said; Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and [from] all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Act 12:12 And when he had considered [the thing], he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
Act 12:13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
Act 12:14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
Act 12:15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

The subject of this message is You Just Gotta believe!

Now, Peter was in prison at the hand of Herod the Great who had just had James, the brother of John put to death. But because it was the time of the feast of unleavened bread, Passover, he detained Peter in prison, planning to put him to death after the Passover, but the church prayed! Although they prayed both day and night in this church in the house of Mary, mother of John, when Peter showed up at the gate, there was only one, a servant girl named Rohde who faithfully and truly believed. Now, it was not that the Lord did not hear their prayers, but I submit to you this evening, that their prayers were answered because their was a Rhoda in the bunch. Because when she told the congregants that Peter was at the gate, they told her that she was crazy and that it was not Peter, but his spirit and not at all him in the flesh. So Rhoda persisted till they went to the gate and opened it only to reveal that it was actually Peter and that the Lord had released him from his chains.

You see, although they committed themselves to pray both day and night for Peter’s release from prison, they really, deep down on the inside did not have that mustard seed faith to believe that the Lord would or could deliver him. In verse: 15 they say to Rhoda, you’ve gone crazy and it is his spirit, his ghost, but what they had really done deep down in their hearts was written him off as dead! But there as a Rhoda in the bunch!

Sister Rhoda was consistent and persistent, in her faith, and no matter what they said, sister Rhoda Trusted God! Sister Rhoda trusted God and believed! Proverbs 3:5, 6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

This is evidence of what we read in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

So, I stand before you this evening to tell you that:
I don’t care what they say, you need to trust God.
I don’t care what anybody thinks when you share your dream that the Lord revealed to you, you need to trust God. His vision, His Provision.
I don’t care what your bank statement says, you need to trust God: His Will, His Bill
I don’t care what you lack, you need to trust God
No matter what the circumstance, you need trust God

Trust God, Trust God, Trust God! I don’t care what it looks like, You just gotta believe!

Preach Not: How to Win Souls in the Workplace

The path from vision for workplace ministry to concrete action isn't always clear. As Jack Munday of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association emphasizes, "We're not encouraging people to go to work on Monday and start preaching." Instead, he says Christians must change the way we view our job, to see it not only as the place where we make our living, but where we consciously live out eternal values. That kind of perspective, he insists, can't help but positively impact the people with whom we spend the majority of our time.

"We hear a lot about the church's involvement in city transformation today, but we've not seen one city transformed in America," says Os Hillman. "The reason is that we haven't equipped, empowered, and affirmed those in the marketplace who have the ability and authority to make changes in the cities and in our culture." If there's going to be real revival in the nation, he believes it will come through Christians purposefully bringing their faith into this "9-to-5 window." We need to be living Epistles and let our light so shine that our collegues will see Christ in us! Our lights should always be on.
